Our Services

Elm Psychology offers a range of services for children, young people, adults, schools, and professionals. Each service is tailored to meet individual needs and promote positive outcomes.

Services for Children & Young People

Supporting Parents and Carers

Parenting is wonderful and terrifying in equal measure! If things go a bit awry in some way for your child and it begins to impact their educational experience, it can feel isolating and confusing.

At Elm Psychology, we want to hear the story of your child, work with you, with them, and wherever possible their educational setting. Each child's pathway will be unique and bespoke to them, but may involve some of the following:

Parent consultation

Discussion with school staff

Joint consultation with parents and school staff/other relevant professionals

Observation of the setting from the viewpoint of the child/young person

Consultation with children/young people

Gathering existing information from other professionals' reports and school assessments

Feedback of work and recommendations (written report or consultation)

EMDR Therapy for Adults

If talking therapies don't appeal, or haven't worked for you, you may wish to consider EMDR as a therapeutic method.
Specifically designed for adults navigating past traumas or confronting current challenges, EMDR is an evidence-based psychotherapy approach that facilitates the processing of distressing events, sometimes well remembered, sometimes not explicitly remembered at all.

Recognising that the brain, like the rest of our body, has a natural capacity to heal, EMDR utilises bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements, to engage the inherent healing mechanisms. Our experienced EMDR therapist at Elm Psychology is dedicated to providing a safe and supportive virtual space for you to explore and reprocess memories in an adaptive way.
This collaborative process is tailored to address a range of mental health concerns, from anxiety and depression to the aftermath of traumatic experiences.

Elm Psychology prioritises confidentiality and empathy, ensuring a supportive environment for your mental health journey.
Take the first step by contacting us today to learn more about our EMDR services and how we can support you to move forward.

Services for Schools and Learning Settings

Outside of their home, schools and settings are the place that children and young people spend most of their time. Increasingly staff find themselves working harder and harder to meet the needs of their pupils in difficult circumstances; budget constraints, recruitment difficulties, a cost of living crisis and the long shadow of COVID-19.

Whilst the need increases, local authority EP services are unable despite their very best efforts to provide non-statutory, supportive and preventative intervention work.

Elm Psychology works with schools and settings via a consultation framework at all levels of intervention, from individual children, to offering training and drop-in sessions for staff, through to whole school systemic inquiry and change management.

Our school services include:

Individual assessments for pupils with specific learning or behavioural needs

Staff training and development in areas such as trauma-informed practice

Whole-school consultations to address systemic issues

Group interventions targeting specific areas like resilience or anxiety

SENCO support and capacity building

Policy development for SEN and mental health

Services for Other Professionals

Maybe you're a care home seeking some problem-solving space or professional support or training for staff? Perhaps you are a social worker seeking a holistic understanding of some of the children you work with so they can better enjoy and access their education?

If you work in any capacity with children and young people, we are ready to work with you.

We Offer:

Inter-agency consultations to develop holistic support strategies

Professional supervision for those working with complex cases

Bespoke training for care homes, social work teams, and other agencies

Joint assessments to bring psychological perspectives to multi-agency work

Research partnerships to develop evidence-based practice

We value collaborative working and believe that pooling expertise leads to better outcomes for children and young people.
