At Elm Psychology, we understand that seeking support is an important step. Our straightforward booking process is designed to ensure you receive the most appropriate service for your needs.

Appointment Booking Process
Please note that our current waiting list is approximately 8 weeks. This means that after your initial contact, the first available appointment will typically be scheduled 8 weeks from that date.
For urgent concerns, please see our Emergency Support page for immediate assistance options. While we understand waiting can be difficult, this timeframe allows us to provide the highest quality service to all our clients.
You will follow the below steps in the appointment booking process:

Initial response - We aim to respond to all enquiries within 48 hours
Brief consultation call - A 15-minute call to discuss your needs and determine if our services are suitable
Booking confirmation - If proceeding, you'll receive appointment details and any necessary paperwork
Appointment - At your scheduled time, either virtually or in-person as arranged
Types of Appointments

Initial
Consultation
(1.5 hours)
An initial meeting to discuss your concerns, gather background information, and determine the best approach for moving forward. This session helps establish goals and create a tailored plan for support.

Parent/Carer Consultations
(1 hour)
Dedicated sessions for parents and carers to discuss strategies, receive guidance, and develop skills to better support their children.

Assessment
Sessions
(1-2 hours)
Comprehensive assessments to understand the specific needs of children and young people. These may include cognitive, educational, emotional, and behavioural assessments.

School-Based Consultations
(1-2 hours)
On-site consultations with educational professionals to address challenges within the school environment and develop effective intervention strategies.

Therapy
Sessions
(1-1.5 hours)
EMDR therapy sessions for adults and children dealing with trauma or other psychological challenges. These sessions are usually conducted virtually, and always in a safe and confidential environment.

Professional Training Sessions
(2-3 hours)
Specialised training for professionals working with children and young people, focusing on psychological approaches and effective intervention techniques.
