What is Educational Psychology?

Educational Psychology focuses on how children and young people learn and develop. Educational psychologists use their training in psychology and knowledge of child development to assess difficulties children may be having with their learning or social and emotional development.

What is EMDR therapy?

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy approach designed to help people heal from trauma or distressing life experiences. EMDR therapy helps the brain process these memories and allows normal healing to resume.

How long does therapy or assessment typically take?

This varies depending on individual needs. Assessments typically take 1-3 sessions, while EMDR therapy often requires 6-12 sessions. During your initial consultation, we'll provide a clearer timeframe based on your specific situation.

Do you offer virtual appointments?

Yes, we provide virtual consultations and EMDR therapy sessions via secure video platforms. Face-to-face appointments are available for certain assessments and consultations where in-person interaction is beneficial.

How much do sessions cost?

Our fees vary depending on the type of service. Please contact us directly for our current fee structure. We strive to provide transparent pricing and value for the support provided.

Do you work with schools?

Yes, we offer a range of services for schools including staff training, consultation, assessment, and intervention planning. We can work on individual cases or at a whole-school level.

Is everything confidential?

Yes, confidentiality is paramount in our practice. Information is only shared with explicit consent, except in rare cases where there is a risk of harm to self or others, which would be discussed with you whenever possible.

Do I need a referral?

No, you can contact us directly without a referral from another professional. Self-referrals are welcome for both our child and adult services.

What geographical areas do you cover?

We provide virtual services nationwide and in-person services primarily within the East Midlands, including Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Northamptonshire and some parts of Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire. For schools and organisations, we can arrange visits further afield. For more information please view our Service Locations page.

What age groups do you work with?

For educational psychology services, we work with children and young people aged 0-25. For EMDR therapy, we currently work with both children and adults.
